Sterilization

We take your health to heart here at Smiley Dental Group. Our cleaning practices have always been geared to keeping a safe and sterile environment, and now with the COVID-19 pandemic top of mind, we are gladly going the extra mile to make sure everything in our office is up to par. It’s our responsibility to ensure the safety of everyone who walks through our doors.

When you visit our office, you can rest assured that everything is properly disinfected and sterilized, and our staff has been instructed on how to practice proper protocol during these trying times. Remember, we have been on the ball well before the pandemic, but it’s a plus to power up and protect our patients even further.

Keeping Clean

Our staff, particularly those who treat patients directly are required to use medical-grade disinfectant hand soap between patients and after touching objects. After a thorough wash, gloves are worn and disposed of between patients, when a fresh pair is picked up after washing again.

As further precautions are required, dentists, hygienists, and assistants will wear PPE, including face masks and face shields along with the disposable gloves, for both their protection as well as that of each patient.

If any staff member is not feeling well, we encourage them to stay home, or go home if they’ve already come to work. The risk of infecting others is not worth the chance. The same goes for patients. If you are not feeling well, give us a call and we will reschedule your appointment for a later date when you are feeling well.

Surfaces Are Spotless

There are many exposed surfaces in a dental office that must be kept clean at all times. Not only is our office tidy, but every surface is disinfected multiple times per day. These frequently touched areas can pick up germs, so we are diligent about disinfecting every inch. Countertops, desks, trays, etc. are all thoroughly cleaned with virus-eliminating solutions. At the end of each day, we do a complete office cleaning from top to bottom.

Tools And Equipment

All dental tools, machinery, and equipment are sterilized between patients, and any disposable items are used for one patient only. We use both heat-based sterilizers such as the dental autoclave, as well as chemical cleaners for dental sterilization. All items are spotless and germ-free for your safety.

Following Rigorous Guidelines

We continuously remain up-to-date on the infection control recommendations from the American Dental Association as well as from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Following proper protocol and talking proactive preventative measures is essential, especially at this time.

When any new updates are added or changes are recommended, we adhere to these principles. As new information emerges about COVID-19, we adapt accordingly. In the case that we are unable to see patients, we will inform those with appointments already in the books.

Dental office sterilization is highly important to us, and to you. Our dental sterilization protocol is practiced by all members of our staff, and we take your concerns seriously.

If you have any questions or concerns about our dental sterilization process, please contact us prior to your appointment so we can provide you with the peace of mind you deserve. We look forward to seeing you (safely) soon.
